Investment promotion for cities and regions

– A virtual bootcamp

The last decade has witnessed intensified competition between Nordic cities and regions for investments – for new firms, capital and entrepreneurs. New places have entered the competition or professionalised their work, at the same time as the global pool of investments has been shrinking, not the least during the pandemic.

More proactive and professional pro­motion of incoming investments on both local and regional level will be needed in the future – and it needs to take new forms.

Business Attraction Management is a tried and tested approach to meet the challenges facing place-based investment promotion for cities and regions – at a time when innovation and entrepreneurship is high on the agenda.

The purpose of this training programme is to provide you with the necessary tools and strategies for investment promotion and business attraction – collected from real-life best practice cases to inspire you, your team and other stakeholders in your location.

The focus of the training will include topics such as:

  • Tools and strategies – how can cities and regions become better at investment promotion? What are the innovative approaches?
  • Collaboration between stakeholders & change leadership – how can different stakeholders be involved and cooperate effectively in this work? How can we use change leadership to kick-start our collaboration?
  • Link to innovation and growth – how can we integrate business attraction with our general innovation, cluster and growth agenda?

Experience sharing and co-creation with other participants will be an important part of the training. The programme is based on the unique handbook “Business Attraction Management for Cities and Regions” (read more about the Business Attraction Management methodology below).

This is what you get:

  • A recorded lecture of about 30 minutes that introduces the basic concepts of Business Attraction Management, sent to you a couple of weeks before the training starts.
  • Individual coachning – every person or team participating will get hands-on coaching and advice in a one-hour session with us, after the bootcamp ends.
  • Two training sessions. We have long experience of facilitating learning and creativity in a digital environment.

Format: Combination of interactive presentations, guest speakers, workshops, group discussions and case assignments.

Fee: € 990 excl. VAT for 1 person and € 790 when two or more persons from one organisation/partnership sign up.

What’s Business Attraction Management? 

The bootcamp is based on the “Business Attraction Management for Cities and Regions”-model and methodology (“BAM”), which is a holistic view of a place’s investment promotion – integrating investment promotion to the general economic development agenda of a location.
